The Fields Builder in Houzez allows you to create custom fields for your property listings, giving you complete flexibility over the information you want to collect or display—without writing any code.
This feature is particularly useful for agencies that need to include property-specific data such as lot dimensions, HOA fees, energy ratings, or custom amenities.
How to Access
From your WordPress dashboard, go to:
Houzez → Fields Builder
Creating a New Custom Field
To add a new field:
- Click the Add New Field button (top right).
- Fill in the following options:
Field Name (required)
Enter the label for your custom field. This name will appear on the property add/edit page and frontend layout.
Placeholder Text (optional)
Provide placeholder text to be displayed inside the field input (e.g., "Enter square footage").
Field Type (required)
Select the type of field you want to create. Available options include:
- Text – For single-line input (e.g., "Pool size")
- Number – For numeric input (e.g., "Year built")
- URL/Link – For website or video links
- Text area – For longer text inputs (multi-line)
- Select – Dropdown with single choice
- Multi Select – Dropdown with multiple selections
- Checkbox List – Multiple selectable options (displayed as checkboxes)
- Radio – One selectable option from multiple choices
Available for Search (required)
Choose whether this field should be available in the property search form:
- Yes – Field will be available in the search builder.
- No – Field will only appear in listing details, not in search filters.
Saving the Field
Once all required fields are filled:
- Click the Create Field button to save.
The new field will now be available to use in property add/edit pages, single property templates, and optionally in advanced search filters if enabled.
✅ Tip: After creating fields, visit the Search Builder and Property Page Layouts to place the new fields visually where needed.
Managing Custom Fields
Once a field is created, it will automatically appear in the Custom Fields Management table just below the field creation form.
This table allows you to view and manage all your custom property fields at a glance.
The Columns:
- Field Name – The name/label of the field shown in the backend and optionally on the frontend.
- Field ID – The unique ID assigned to the field (used in the database and for integration).
- Type – Indicates the field type (e.g., Text, Number, Select).
- Search – Shows whether the field is enabled for use in the property search form.
- Actions –
- Edit – Update the field's label, type, or search availability.
- Delete – Permanently remove the field from your system.
✅ Note: If a field is set to be available for search, you'll be able to include it in your Advanced Search form using the Search Builder tool.
