Taxonomies Management

The Taxonomies Management section lets you enable, disable, and structure location-based taxonomies to better categorize property listings and optimize search and filtering options across your real estate platform.

Overview

At the top of the panel, a summary provides key metrics:

• Total Taxonomies: Number of available location taxonomy types.
• Enabled Taxonomies: Number currently in use.
• Disabled Taxonomies: Currently inactive taxonomy types.
• Location Coverage: The percentage of enabled location layers (e.g., 100% if all four are enabled).

Location Taxonomies Configuration

Use the dropdown menus to individually enable or disable the following taxonomy levels:

• Country
  Organize properties by country for international listings.
• County / State
  Categorize properties by state, province, or county for regional segmentation.
• City
  Group properties by city for local market focus.
• Area
  Define specific neighborhoods or districts within cities.

Disabled taxonomies are hidden from both the WordPress admin interface and the frontend search filters.

Location Hierarchy

This section visually represents the geographic classification hierarchy used by Houzez:

• Country Level
  Top-level geographic classification for international property listings and global market reach.
• State/Province Level
  Regional segmentation to enable more refined property filtering.
• City Level
  Urban classification to support city-specific searches and listings.
• Area/Neighborhood Level
  Granular classification for neighborhoods, districts, or zones within cities.

Saving Your Changes

Click Save Settings (top-right) after enabling/disabling taxonomies to ensure your configuration is applied site-wide.

Tip: For local-only websites, you can disable top-level taxonomies (e.g., Country or State) to simplify filtering. For international directories, enable all levels for full location coverage.
