The Dock Search panel is a customizable search bar that overlays the header area of selected pages. It offers a flexible and user-friendly way for visitors to filter properties directly from the homepage or other key sections of your website.
This search panel is especially useful for layouts that use headers with maps, videos, images, or sliders, providing a seamless and visually integrated experience.
You can enable and configure the Dock Search from:
Houzez → Theme Options → Searches → Dock Search
Enable Dock Search
To activate the Dock Search:
- Go to: Houzez → Theme Options → Searches → Dock Search
- Toggle Advanced Search Panel to "Yes"
Once enabled, the search panel will appear over the selected header types.
Choose Header Types
Select the headers where the Dock Search should appear:
- Header with Google Map
- Header Video
- Header Parallax Image
- Header Revolution Slider
- Header Properties Slider
You can enable one or more options depending on your design.
Select Search Pages
Use the Search Pages dropdown to choose where to display the Dock Search:
- Only Homepage
- Homepage + Inner Pages
- All Pages
Keep Advanced Search Visible?
You can choose whether the Dock Search should be open by default or closed until clicked:
- Yes = Always visible
- No = Appears minimized (collapsed)
Search Builder
Houzez provides a drag-and-drop builder to customize which search fields appear and in what order.
- Set how many fields should show on the Top Row
- Use the Search Builder interface to:
- Enable/Disable fields
- Reorder fields by dragging
Available fields include:
- Keyword, Cities, Areas, Status, Type, Bedrooms, Bathrooms, Min/Max Area, Min/Max Price, Property ID, Label, etc.
- You can also add a New Field manually.
Additional Options
Enable Radius Search
Toggle to enable a geolocation-based search feature using a distance radius around a selected location.
Price Range Slider
- Enable to replace Min/Max Price dropdowns with a dynamic slider.
Other Features
- Enable this option to allow users to filter listings by custom property features (checklist style).
The Dock Search is ideal for highly visible, engaging search interfaces on homepage or featured listing pages. It is distinct from other search types like Header Search, Half Map Search, or Banner Search, and should be configured based on the visual layout and UX you're aiming to achieve.
