Houzez allows you to choose which mapping system you want to use throughout your website. You can switch between different map providers depending on your needs and budget.
Available Map Systems
- Google Maps – Paid service, requires API key and billing account
- OpenStreetMap – Free and open-source
- Mapbox – Free up to a certain usage limit, requires API key
This flexibility helps you optimize your site's performance while keeping control over your budget.
Map Selection Mode
From your WordPress dashboard, go to: Theme Options → Map Settings
The first setting you'll see is the Map Selection Mode, which determines how maps are applied across your site:
- Global – Use the same map provider across all areas of your website.
- Specific Areas – Use different map providers for specific sections like listing pages, property detail pages, submission forms, etc.
Global Mode
When Global is selected, you can choose one map system that will be used site-wide.
You'll see this option:
-
Global Map System choose between:
- OpenStreetMap
- Mapbox
- Google Maps
The selected system will be applied universally except for the admin panel.
Note: The "Submit Property Form – WP Admin" section can be configured independently.
Specific Areas Mode
If you need more control, choose Specific Areas to assign different map providers to different sections of your website:
- Header Map – Used in property pages with map headers.
- Listing Taxonomy Maps – Used in category/tag archive pages with maps.
- Half Map Template – Used in search result pages with half map layout.
- Property Detail Page – Displayed on single property pages.
- Submit Property Form – Used in front-end property submission.
- Agent/Agency Detail Page – Map shown in agent/agency profile pages.
- Submit Property Form – WP Admin – Used in the WordPress admin when adding/editing a property.
For each section, you can independently choose:

This setup is ideal for optimizing performance, user experience, and map service costs.
