The Houzez maps are provided by Google Maps and they require an API key to make them work. To use the Maps JavaScript API, you must register your app project on the Google Cloud Platform Console and get a Google API key which you can add to your app.
Get Google Maps API key
To use the Maps JavaScript API, you must register your app project on the Google Cloud Platform Console and get a Google API key which you can add to your app.
Step 1: Get an API Key from the Google Cloud Platform Console
Click the link below, which guides you through the process of registering a project in the Google Cloud Platform Console, activates the Maps JavaScript API and any related services automatically, and generates a generic, unrestricted API key.
By clicking the link Star Here you will be redirected to a page where you will see the image here below.
Select Maps and click Continue.
Create a New Project and enter the new project name as displayed in the image below. You can use any name you prefer. Click Next
By clicking Next, you will be redirected to a page where Google asks you to create a billing account. Click on Create Billing Account as displayed in the image here below.
Enter a name for your billing account and click Continue as displayed in the image below.
Select your country and currency and click Confirm as displayed in the image below.
Fill the form displayed in the image below with your name and address, privacy contact and payment method. Click on Submit and Enable Billing.
You will be redirected to a page as displayed in the image below. Click Next.
You’re all set! Find the API Keycode as displayed in the image below. Copy the code and click on Done.
Step 2: Add the API key to Houzez
To enable the Google Maps API access your admin panel and navigate to Theme Options > Maps Settings. We strongly encourage you to get an APIs Console key and post the code in Theme Options.
Enable API Services
Follow the instructions below to enable Geocoding, Places, and Geolocation API services.
Step 1 – Access the Google Cloud Platform here https://console.cloud.google.com/home/dashboard and on the top blue bar be sure you are in your right API project.
Step 2 – From the left sidebar select APIs & Services > Library
Step 3 – Click on Maps Javascript API
Step 4 – Click on Geocoding API as displayed in the image below.
Step 5 – Click on Enable as displayed in the image below.
Step 6 – Go back to the previous page and click on Place API as displayed in the image below.
Step 7 – Click on Enable as displayed in the image below.
Step 8 – Go back to the previous page and click on Geolocation API
Step 9 – Click on Enable as displayed in the image below.
You are all set.
