The Post Excerpt widget displays the excerpt of a blog post. An excerpt is a short summary or preview of the post, usually defined in the WordPress editor or automatically generated from the beginning of the post content. This widget is useful when you want to highlight a quick preview of the post before showing the full content.
How to Add the "Post Excerpt" Widget
- Navigate to Houzez → Theme Builder → All.
- Edit your Single Blog Post template with Elementor.
- In the Elementor panel, search for Post Excerpt.
- Drag and drop the widget into the desired section of your blog post template.
Configuration Options
Content Tab
- This widget automatically pulls the excerpt text from the WordPress post settings.
- No additional manual content settings are available.
Style Tab
- Alignment: Align the excerpt text to left, center, right, or justified.
- Text Color: Customize the color of the excerpt text.
- Typography: Control the font family, size, weight, letter spacing, and line height.
Best Practices
- Use the Post Excerpt widget at the top of your post layout to give readers a quick preview before they read the full content.
- Keep excerpts short and engaging to encourage readers to continue reading.
- Ensure consistent typography across your site to maintain a professional look.
- If you want more control over what is displayed, define custom excerpts in the WordPress editor instead of relying on the automatic excerpt generator.
Notes & Limitations
- If no excerpt is manually defined, WordPress will generate one automatically by taking the first words of the post content.
- The widget does not allow editing the text directly inside Elementor. To change the excerpt, you must edit it in the post editor.
